چکیده

In the last ten years, field and object models have emerged as two opposing approaches for conceptualizing and modeling geographic phenomena. In the context of a field perspective, each point in space is mapped to a value selected from an attribute domain. In this way, geographic space is perceived as 'full', as every location is occupied by a value. In the context of an object perspective, space is perceived as a container populated by any number and type of geo-referenced objects, each with its own properties. Although most geographic phenomena are generally modeled using either a field or object perspective, the approach most suited in a given instance depends on the purpose and context of the modeling exercise. For this reason, the two model classes are best considered conceptual perspectives rather than inherent qualities of geographic phenomena, as any aspect of geographic reality can be modeled using either of these two perspectives.

Extending the Qualitative Trajectory Calculus Based on the Concept of Accessibility of Moving Objects in the Paths

Qualitative spatial representation and reasoning are among the important capabilities in intelligent geospatial information system development. Although a large contribution to the study of moving objects has been attributed to the quantitative use and analysis of data, such calculations are ineffective when there is little inaccurate data on position and geometry or when explicitly explaining ...

Extending geographical representation to include elds of spatial objects

This paper describes a means for linking Ž eld and object representations of geographical space. The approach is based on a series of mappings, where locations in a continuous Ž eld are mapped to discrete objects. An object in this context is a modeler’s conceptualization, as in a viewshed, highway corridor or biological reserve. An object can be represented as a point, line, polygon, network, ...

Theoretical review and Planning process of the Relation between Environment, Spatial Justice and Urban Governance

The concept of spatial justice has been widely employed in the recent literature that attempts to deal with concepts and practices of justice from a geographical perspective. However, the concept of spatial justice needs to be recast. Spatial justice could be the most radical offspring of law’s ‘spatial turn’. Spatial justice is arguably the most promising platform on which to redefine, not o...

Classification and Representation of Change in Spatial Database for Incremental Data Transfer

Nowadays, more and more spatial databases are used in various fields, so the demands for keeping spatial database “fresh” are growing rapidly. Generally, the end-users get the basic spatial data from professional spatial data producers. There are mainly two kinds of way for transfer the changed data. One is to batch transfer; the other is incremental data transfer. With the batch method, the wh...

Mechanism and Methods of Fuzzy Geographical Object Modeling

Fuzziness is an important aspect of the uncertainties of spatial data. In this paper, the mechanism and methods of spatial modeling for fuzzy geographical objects are focused and the following two issues are resolved: (1) Modeling fuzzy geographical objects; (2) Modeling the relation between two fuzzy geographical objects. In the first issue, fuzzy geographical objects are defined by the novel ...
